The Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) has signed a historic $5.2 billion agreement to acquire the next generation of F-15 fighter jets.

The contract, finalized on Wednesday, includes the purchase of 25 advanced F-15IA fighter jets from Boeing and provides an option to acquire 25 additional jets in the future, further strengthening Israel’s air power.

This investment is part of a U.S. military aid package approved by the U.S. government and Congress earlier this year. The agreement results from lengthy negotiations between the IMOD mission in the United States and Boeing, in collaboration with the Israeli Air Force. Major General (Ret.) Eyal Zamir, Director General of IMOD, signed the purchase authorization during his visit to the United States last month.

The new F-15IA jets will be equipped with advanced weapons systems and cutting-edge Israeli technology, offering greater range, payload capacity, and improved performance across various operational scenarios. These upgrades are designed to ensure that the Israeli Air Force maintains its strategic advantage in the Middle East.

Deliveries are expected to begin in 2031, with four to six aircraft provided annually. This acquisition strengthens defense ties between Israel and the United States, reflecting both nations’ commitment to regional security and stability.

“The Ministry of Defense is executing a comprehensive strategy to enhance the operational capabilities of the IDF,” stated Major General Eyal Zamir. “Since the beginning of the war, we have secured acquisition agreements worth nearly $40 billion.”

Boeing Israel President, Major General (Ret.) Ido Nehushtan, emphasized the strong partnership between Boeing and Israel. “Boeing is proud of its long-standing partnership with Israel, a relationship dating back to the founding of our nation. The company will continue to work with the U.S. and Israeli governments to deliver the advanced F-15IA aircraft through standard military acquisition channels,” said Nehushtan.
